2008 - We Just Fly
| Since releasing her first record, We Just Fly, in early 2009, Alicia McGovern has quickly been standing out as both a songwriter and a performer. Alicia has just won the Dave Carter Memorial Songwriting Contest at the Sisters Folk Festival (Sept 2011). She has been a finalist in the Susanne Millsaps Memorial Songwriting Showcase (2011), placed third in the Tucson Folk Festival Songwriting Contest (2010) and received an Honorable Mention in the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival Songwriting Contest (2010).
In October 2010, Alicia released her sophomore CD which she recorded with Mark Thayer at Signature Sounds Studio in CT. The record has been warmly received by the Folk Community, charting on the Folk Radio charts at #5 in December of 2010, and for February 2011 at #2 on the EuroAmericana Chart.
In the words of renowned songwriter Steve Seskin, Alicia's music is "passionate, poignant poetry combined with beautiful melodies sung with a great sense of what she's singing about.
