While the media speculates on the future of the music business, Christine Kane isn’t waiting around to hear their answers. Kane is blazing a trail that explodes the boundaries of the typical singer-songwriter track. Christine headlines at celebrated music and arts festivals, like the Kate Wolfe Festival and Chattanooga’s Riverbend Festival, as well as at popular venues and theaters across the country from the Freight & Salvage to The Birchmere. But that’s not all. Christine has toured with the North Carolina Dance Theatre in support of a ballet they choreographed to her music. The show toured to rave reviews in 2006 and 2007, put Christine in the spotlight at major performing arts centers around the U.S., and featured her in Dance Magazine. The Charleston Ballet Theatre has also choreographed a ballet to Kane’s music, which debuted at Charleston’s 2007 Piccolo-Spoleto Festival.

Christine’s songs have been recorded by several popular artists, including country diva Kathy Mattea, and Nashville Star finalist Casey Simpson. Borders Books & Music chose Christine’s CD, Rain & Mud & Wild & Green as one of the Best of 2003, and the Washington Post called her a petite powerhouse of a singer.

Her role in the public eye doesn’t stop at the stage, however. Christine is also sought-after as a public speaker and creativity consultant. Christine is contracted by the Federal Government to teach creativity as part of its bi-monthly Leadership Assessment Program, an intensive retreat for government leaders. She has taught her unique method of building creativity to groups such as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and the CIA - and on the campuses of many colleges and universities, including University of Tennessee, Drury University and Boston College.

Christine also facilitates three-day retreats for women at a resort in the mountains of Western North Carolina four times a year. These events sell out months in advance.

Christine’s recent DVD release, Live at the Diana Wortham Theatre, features a full-length performance and an exclusive interview segment, and won a 2007 Telly Award for Best Entertainment Program.

Christine lives in Asheville, NC with her husband, her dog, and three cats.
